Bought a new Savage 2/22/00 as my second bike ever. I'm sure now that it was a good choice for me. 1/3 the price of a HD Sportster, I don't have to worry about it falling apart and it looks great. For my 5 foot 7 inches and 160 pounds it's a perfect fit and the 650 CC engine is capable of moving me along at respectable speeds.
I'm glad I don't have a fragile ego as I live in Daytona Beach but in all fairness no one around town has ever made negative comments about the Thumper.
